Minister: MC-21 plane to get airworthiness certificate in 2019
MOSCOW, May 29 (PRIME) -- Russia’s new MC-21 passenger aircraft is expected to receive a certificate of airworthiness in 2019, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told Rossiya 24 television channel on Monday.
“We expect that in 2019 we will finish all tests, receive a certificate of airworthiness and start first commercial supplies,” he said.
Designed by aircraft producer Irkut, MC-21 plane made it first test flight on May 28. Irkut plans to produce 20 MC-21 planes annually starting from 2020 and up to 70 aircraft starting from 2023.
